Purchase a Labeler

LabelerIn getting yourself organized to ensure that you have a successful semester, here is a tip that may seem like a silly one:

Purchase a labeler. I’m not kidding. David Allen, the “Getting Things Done” guy, is the one who turned me on to this idea. I have a Brother P-Touch labeler and I love it – and apparently, this month Office Depot is featuring the P-Touch Label Maker for only $39.99! If you are thinking, ‘Well, what would I label?’ here are some suggestions:

  • You could print out labels for the jillions of notebooks on your shelf,
  • You can label containers where you put stuff,
  • You can label shelves where things go.
  • You can label items that belong to you.
  • You can label the cords that wend their way out of your computer – right monitor, left monitor, keyboard, speakers, etc. Love this – and so does my IT guy.

You can label darned near anything. Oh, here’s something else –

  • Label those little containers that are in your suitcase. The ones where you get to the conference hotel and think, ‘Hmmm…is this conditioner or lotion? Is this hair gel or gel for my sore knee?’ If you have it labeled, you don’t have to worry about your hair, your skin, or your knee. You put the right things on the right places.
  • You can also label folders, books, CDs, DVDs, or pretty much anything else.

You’ll find so many uses for this little item that you’ll probably buy one for your home, too. I certainly did!
